Premier League: Arsenal extend lead

Arsenal FC are back on course for their 14th English football championship title. Two weeks after the 3-1 defeat in the top game against defending champions Manchester City, the Londoners celebrated their third win in a row in the catch-up game against Everton FC 4-0 (2-0) and extended their lead at the top of the table to five points .

Bukayo Saka (40′) and Gabriel Martinelli (45’+1′) gave the Gunners, who were last champions in 2004, a reassuring 2-0 lead after initial difficulties in the closing stages of the first half. Martin Ödegaard (71st) and Martinelli (80th) increased after the break.

Jürgen Klopp is approaching the international places again with Liverpool FC. A week after the sobering 2:5 against Real Madrid in the Champions League, the Reds and the German team manager defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2:0 (0:0) in a catch-up game.

The European Cup places are only two points away, the Champions League ranks six points. Virgil van Dijk (73′) and Mohamed Salah (77′) scored the goals. A goal by Darwin Nunez (66th) had previously been withdrawn after video evidence of a storm foul.
