Pol Espargaro Injured Spinal Fracture

Pol Espargaro crashed twice in the second practice session for the 2023 Portugal MotoGP. The Spanish rider suffered a spinal fracture.

The second practice (P2) MotoGP Portugal 2023 was held at the Algavre International Circuit, Portimao, Friday (24/3/2023) evening WIB. Disaster befell Espargaro early in the session.

The GasGas Racing Team rider fell in the final sector. Red flags then flew due to technical problems.

Espargaro was thrown from the motorbike at Turn 10. His body then dragged and rolled over in the gravel, before crashing into the track barrier.

Espargaro’s body was then stretchered out in an ambulance. He was immediately taken to the hospital for further examination.

Launching MotoGP, Espargaro was conscious when he was taken to the hospital. The younger brother of Aleix Espargaro was later diagnosed with a lung contusion, a broken jaw and a broken back spine.

This was conveyed by the MotoGP Medical Director, Dr. Angel Charte. He hoped that Espargaro’s spinal fracture was not too severe.

“He has suffered severe spinal trauma and a bruise to his lung which we have to monitor closely. Although I think he will recover well, we need to carry out the appropriate tests to determine the extent of the injury,” said Dr Charte on the official MotoGP website. .

“He is conscious, alert and responding well. He is slightly sedated because of the painkillers we gave him. He can move his legs, feet and arms very well so there is no reason to fear a permanent spinal injury,” he said. about Pol Espargaro’s injury.
