With four medals won, the Peruvian delegation finished its participation in the XXI Giraldilla 2023 International Badminton Tournament, which was held from March 14 to 19 in Havana, Cuba.
Inés Castillo, in the Women’s Individual, climbed to second place on the podium, after fighting Hristomira Popovska of Bulgaria in the final, and losing 16-21, 21-16 and 20-22.
In the same modality, Rafaela Munar was left with the bronze, after losing in the semifinals against Castillo, with a score of 21-7 and 21-16.
While in the Women’s Doubles, the duo Inés Castillo – Paula La Torre was defeated by the local Taymara Oropesa – Yeily Mari Ortiz by 10-21, 21-11 and 22-20, in the semifinals and was third.
The sisters Rafaela and Fernanda Munar also received the consolation prize, who 13-21, 21-1721-14
In a curious fact, the sisters Rafaela and Fernanda Munar were defeated by the sisters Alejandra and Mariana Paiz from Guatemala, by 13-21, 21-17 and 21-14, keeping the consolation prize.
