The former Spanish basketball player Pau Gasoldouble NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, is among those chosen as New Hall of Famers of the NBA, according to the ‘ESPN’ network.

The NBA will make the official announcement of the new members on April 1st during the NCAA Final Four in Houston (Texas) and, according to the American media, among those chosen are also Dwayne Wade, the German Dirk Nowitzki, the French Tony Parker and trainers Becky Hammon and Gregg Popovich. The ceremony will be held on August 12 in Springfield (Massacchusetts) at the ‘Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’.

Gasol played 18 seasons in the NBA, with the Memphis Grizzlies, Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Portland Trail Blazers. Rookie of the year in 2002, in the regular season, the Spanish center played 1,226 games in the NBA (1,150 of them as owner) and had 17 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 blocks on average by encounter. In the postseason, Gasol played in 136 games (122 starting in the starting five) and averaged 15.4 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.7 blocks.

These figures over 18 seasons place him among the best European players in NBA history along with other very prominent names such as Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Drazen Petrovic and Arvydas Sabonis. But, beyond the numbers, Gasol also left his mark in the NBA through unforgettable moments such as his friendship with the late Kobe Bryant and the memorable initial jump against his brother Marc in the all-star game of 2015.
