The Kansas City Chiefs are restructuring MVP Patrick Mahomes’ contract. Part of the so-called roster bonus, i.e. money that Mahomes simply gets when he is part of the team, becomes a signing bonus. It counts differently against the salary cap, saving the Chiefs about $9.6 million in this year’s cap space. Not an unusual measure for players with large and long-term contracts.
