Next forced break for unlucky cod

Niklas Dorsch is just not getting going at FC Augsburg this season. The 25-year-old now had to have an operation and will be out again – not for the first time this season.

Was sick more often recently: Niklas Dorsch.

After a completely screwed up first half of the season with numerous injuries, Niklas Dorsch was just getting closer to his normal form step by step, so he now has to deal with another setback.

The 25-year-old underwent an operation on his paranasal sinuses because he had recently been ailing again and again. He will probably have to take another two-week break for this reason. He would miss games in Wolfsburg and against Cologne.

Last year, Dorsch seemed to be getting back on his feet just in time for the 2022/23 season after breaking his collarbone before a metatarsal fracture intervened and slowed him down again.

Three months later everything seemed to be fine again, after weeks of training Dorsch reported back to the second team in the regional league. For a quarter of an hour. The diagnosis: another broken metatarsal.

“Of course you ask yourself how this is going to continue in the next few years”

“So many thoughts come together in such a short time about what you’re doing wrong,” Dorsch said openly in an interview with kicker. “We are dependent on our body, I hope I still have ten to twelve years ahead of me. Of course you ask yourself how this is going to continue in the next few years. The metatarsal cracks have thrown me back extremely, athletically and mentally.”

If it stays with the two-week break, Dorsch should be able to attack much faster this time and further expand his meager record of six league games. Then he could at least ensure a personal happy ending.
