NBA, LeBron James: autologous blood therapy in Germany? – US SPORTS NBA BASKETBALL

Did the superstar get treatment in Germany?

LeBron James (38) has been missing the Lakers for eleven games with a nasty ankle injury. But his coach, Darvin Ham, is still confident that his superstar will soon be back on the court.

“We expect he’ll be able to play again sometime this season,” Ham said ahead of the match against the Orlando Magic, which the Lakers won 111-105. James was injured in the win against the Dallas Mavericks on February 26 and hasn’t played since.

There are even rumors that James flew to Germany for treatment. Lakers player Dennis Schröder (29) fueled speculation and said LeBron could return soon.

LeBron colleague Schröder: “He works on his body three times a day for a comeback. I think the chances are good. (…) I can’t say much more, but I know that German doctors are very good.”

It is believed that LeBron underwent PRP therapy in Germany. Blood-rich plasma from the patient’s own blood is injected to accelerate the healing process. This treatment method was also very popular with Kobe Bryant ten years ago, when it was still banned in the USA.

The 38-year-old is due to be re-examined this week to see if he’ll soon be fit again. But even without LeBron, the Lakers still have six wins in eleven games. “We have a lot of strong players who can help us achieve our goals,” said Ham. “And when LeBron comes back, we will be even stronger.”
