COAST MESA, Calif. — The depth of Los Angeles Chargers, Nasir Adderley, announced his retirement on Instagram on Thursday.

“After a period of reflection, I have decided it is time to step away from football,” he wrote. Nasir Adderley. “For the past two years I’ve been in denial about this, but I’m finally going to put myself first for once. My health comes first and everyone around me knows it.”

He appeared in 16 games but was replaced as the starter in the Week 5 win over the Cleveland Browns and also did not start in the wild card round playoff loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished the season with two interceptions and 62 tackles.

In four seasons, Adderley he intercepted three passes, forced two fumbles, and recorded 232 tackles.
