Motive.co Gijón dismisses Cristina Cabeza.

Cristina Cabeza has ceased to be the coach of Motive.co Gijón with two days to go before the end of the regular season. The bad results conceded by the team in the last few days has precipitated the departure of the coach, who had already known for several weeks that she would not continue next season. Second coach Luis Avelino will take charge of the team.

The club communicated its decision to the coach after a meeting held this afternoon. The defeat suffered last Saturday against Granollers, a game in which the team offered a poor image, ended up deciding the board that had no longer liked Cristina Cabeza’s decision to announce her departure with so many days to go before the end of the league competition and with the Queen’s Cup also pending.

Motive.co Gijón have only won one of the last six league games, to which must be added the two defeats suffered at the hands of Elche in the quarterfinals of the EHF European Cup, which means an eight-game victory. In addition, the image offered by the team leaves a lot to be desired. The Gijón club is in eighth position, the last one that entitles them to play in the play-off for the title but which above all means avoiding the relegation phase, and it only has one point ahead of Granollers, which also has an easier calendar than the gijonesas
