Daniil Medvedev seems to have drawn many lessons from his tough defeat to Carlos Alcaraz and after a notable beginning of his career in the ATP Masters 1000 Miami Open 2023, wanted to make it clear, in a relaxed tone, how much that game has marked him. Against Carballés he made numerous drop shots to change the rhythm and mislead the rival, this being something unusual in his game, for which he was questioned at a press conference. “The truth is that I have always liked the idea of making drop shots, but it is not an argument that comes naturally to me in my tennis. I need to have a lot of confidence to do it and today I felt good, although after playing against Alcaraz I really realized I realize that I need to do them more”, said the Russian, whose next rival will be Alex Molcan, between laughs.
