When Matteo signed up to compete in Acapulco, he was also able to get a wildcard for his brother.

After qualifying for his first ATP main draw, Jacopo opened up about his brother’s influence. “Without Matteo, none of this would have been possible.. Not just for the wild card [de qualification] but for everything.

He is my inspiration, he is really a true champion and a very good person. For me, he is the most important person in my life. I really want to say thank you to him. It’s really nice to have him here and in general in my life,” Jacopo told the ATP website.

Not only did Jacopo qualify for his first ATP main draw, but he is also participating for the first time in the same ATP tournament as his brother. For Jacopo, it’s a dream come true because, as children, they dreamed of meeting one day at this stage.

“We were having fun. We had a dream to become professionals, but just that. Not a goal, but a dream. And now, for us, it’s still a dream. It’s something crazy. Tomorrow we will play the same day in the same tournament.

It’s so huge. It’s always a dream,” said Jacopo. For the Berrettini brothers, this week in Acapulco will forever be remembered as one of the most special weeks.
