Tatjana Maria was the last German player to drop out of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells.

Indian Wells (SID) – Tatjana Maria was the last German player to drop out of the WTA tournament in Indian Wells. The Wimbledon semi-finalist lost 6-2, 6-1 to eighth-seeded Russian Darja Kassatkina on Sunday night after about an hour of play.

In the first round Maria had beaten the Italian Jasmine Paolini. The 35-year-old from Bad Saulgau was the only German to make it into the second round of the $8.8 million hard court tournament: Jule Niemeier and Laura Siegemund failed at their opening hurdles.

At the parallel ATP Masters in Indian Wells, from a German perspective, only Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is represented. The 25-year-old from Hamburg meets the Finn Emil Ruusuvuori in the third round on Sunday.
