Manchester City: another hat-trick for Haaland, author of eight goals this week

Erling Haaland will remember this week for a long time. Undoubtedly one of the most prolific of his career. After his resounding quintuplet on Tuesday against Leipzig (7-0) in the Champions League, the Norwegian cyborg scored a hat-trick on Saturday against Burnley, in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

It took him fifty-nine minutes to do this, which is still 14 more than Tuesday in C1. But that remains little to remove any semblance of suspense from the match. He first beat the opposing goalkeeper on an opening from Julian Alvarez to open the scoring (1-0, 32nd), before receiving a cross from Phil Foden at the far post, three minutes later ( 2-0, 35th), and to take a shot, again from Foden, which had been deflected by the goalkeeper and pushed back by the post (3-0, 59th).

Alvarez took over with a double, on a service from Kevin de Bruyne (4-0, 62nd) and winning a face to face with poor Bailey Peacock-Farrell (6-0, 73rd). Meanwhile, the young Cole Palmer, who had replaced Haaland five minutes earlier, had scored his first pro goal (5-0, 68th).

Painful defeat for former Citizen Vincent Kompany

If the return to the Premier League of Burnley, relegated last summer, is almost assured with 13 points ahead of his runner-up Sheffield United, this defeat is painful. It is all the more so for Vincent Kompany, his coach, who played eleven years, including eight as captain, at City, winning four league titles.

But there was nothing to do against these Citizens there who can still challenge the Premier League title at Arsenal and who will face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

The other three quarters will be played on Sunday, including a very enticing duel between teams of the elite between Manchester United and Fulham (5:30 p.m.). Sheffield Unted and Blackburn Rovers will open the ball at 1:00 p.m. in a duel between D2 teams while Tom Thumb, Grimsby Town, resident of League Two (D4) will try their luck in Brighton at 3:15 p.m.
