Luis Barroso at the European Open in Rome and Aiora Martín at the European Cup in Croatia

The days March 11 and 12, Rome has hosted the European Judo Open at the Olympic Center aimed at judokas from absolute category. The event featured 382 judo players from 35 countries, including Luis Barroso Lopezcurrent champion of Spain in the Junior and Absolute category and summoned by the Spanish National Team.

While Luis Barroso López was competing in Rome, another of the athletes from CDE Yamatotakeru from Talavera, Aiora Martin Carrichescompeted in Zagreb in the Cadet Judo European Cup from Croatiaaimed at judokas aged between 15 and 17 yearsincluding both.

The event was attended by 875 judokas from 35 countries and among them Aiora Martín Carriches and one of the CDE Yamatotakeru technicians, José Martín Obra, both members of the Valencian Federation team. Aiora began the competition in the round of 16 against the athlete from Kazakhstan, Tamila Alikhanova, whom he defeated in a great fight.

In the quarterfinals they face the Italian Rachel Ciavurro that after a frantic start by the Italian judoka Aiora manages to score ippon doing a great ground work.

In the semifinals, they face the current third in Europe and fifth in the world, the Austrian Nina Auer. Despite Aiora’s good fight, the Austrian judoka took advantage of Aiora’s bad displacement and took over her fight, taking her to the fight for bronze against the Swiss judoka Melody Veillard, which he defeated with a spectacular ippon that lifted the audience from their seats. In this way, Aiora Martín Carriches rises with the Bronze.

Next April Aiora will travel to Teplice (Czech Republic) to participate in her third European Cup of the season and in the training camp that will take place after the championship.
