Lothar Matthäus launched a sweeping attack against FCB

Lothar Matthäus didn’t take kindly to the dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann at FC Bayern Munich. In its Skycolumn, the TV expert launched a sweeping attack on FCB.

“It is a mystery to me how it can be that an Italian journalist can be the first to report on what is happening on Säbener Straße,” wrote Matthäus about the fact that transfer expert Fabrizio Romano published the exclusive report last Thursday, according to which Nagelsmann before the Dismissal at Bayern.

Matthäus also criticized those responsible for Bavaria around President Herbert Hainer, Sports Director Hasan Salihamidzic, CEO Oliver Kahn and Honorary President Uli Hoeneß for recently publicly praising Nagelsmann and describing the collaboration with him as a long-term project.

“I repeat myself when I say that the family, that protective something that distinguishes this club from all the others, no longer exists. Mia san mia is sometimes trampled on,” said Matthäus. While Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge had defended and protected the club for years, Matthäus now saw “everything so cold and loveless”.

Regarding Hoeneß, the 62-year-old even put forward a daring thesis: “I think that Uli is dissatisfied with the work of his successors and it annoys him that he can no longer decide many things himself. In retrospect, he may also be dissatisfied the selection of the staff he once championed so much and who now direct the fortunes of his club.”
