Successful return

Abandoned in Poland, Fiola resumed his place. He had to avoid having a hot start so that Gélinas-Beaulieu could hold on and not skate the last lap in the red.

“I started faster than in training, but Antoine was able to keep up the pace and he finished strong,” he explained. This is my first career medal at the senior world championship. It sounds good to me that we are world champion. »

Gold for women too

The women’s relay composed of Brooklyn McDougall, Carolina Hiller and Ivanie Blondin managed a time of 1 min 26 s 29 to beat the Americans (1 min 26 s 57) and the Chinese (1 min 27 s 86) and obtain the first medal of championship gold in Canada.

Multiple Olympic and world championship medalist, Blondin was jubilant on the podium. “I’m really excited and it’s like winning my first world championship,” she said.
