Langon. Challenge: Sandrine and Kelly take part in the Raid Amazones in Sri Lanka

Kelly Gaillard, professional photographer in the area around Langon (Gironde), participates in the Raid Amazonesand female and united challenge which runs until March 30 in Sri Lanka. To share this adventure: his teammate, Sandrine Gispalou.

This duo, whose team name is “Les Simone”, is from a previous edition: “we had participated in the Raid in March 2019 but each with another person in pairs. However, we were sitting next to each other on the plane and since then, a very beautiful friendship was born says Kelly. “With Sandrine, we share the same values ​​of exchange, sharing and the raid is a human adventure out of the ordinary! »

“The Raid is an emotional lift”

It is indeed the only itinerant nature raid around the world 100% feminine and it also aims to support one or more associations.

She says: “As far as we are concerned, we support The voice of the child, as well as Sophie Loubet, Paralympic athlete, to help finance her prosthesis in order to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games! »

How is the raid going? “In the morning and for six days, there are tests of mountain biking, canoeing, archery, bike and runand in the afternoon we bring basic necessities to the schools and clinics, as well as school materials, etc,” replies the Langonnaise.

4000€ raised for The Voice of the Child

This is why, “we have carried out various actions in order to raise fundss for our associations, i.e. around €4,000”. In addition to doing a good deed, during this challenge weave countless memories : “the raid is an emotional lift because we go from laughter to tears… In short, it can’t be explained, it’s lived! she confides.

To take part in this physical challenge, “we prepared daily: we alternated coaching Mountain biking / running but also indoors to work the upper body for canoeing”. Both athletic at heart and in practice, Kelly and Sandrine like to take up challenges, so they will give their all!

A unique experience that they are going through: “we don’t have any particular expectations, we want bring joy to children, says Kelly. And we hope to be able to exchange with the women who live there, because it is planned to help them in their daily work, to harvest rice or tea”.
