The home team was missing striker Gríger and the visitors Plášek, both of whom received an additional one-match penalty from the disciplinary committee for interventions in Saturday’s duel. The West Bohemians started better. In the 3rd minute, Knotek lost the puck in the defensive zone, which reached Koffer, who shot Konrád through the ring.
Olomouc subsequently overcame the first weakening and added momentum. The home team first saved the post in the 14th minute after Navrátil’s shot, and Škůrek was also close to equalizing, whose chance was blocked by Habal.

Right at the beginning of the second act, Rachůnek found himself alone in front of Konrád, but his shot from close range was eliminated by the Olomouc goalkeeper. Kružík’s shot from the left wing was stopped by the post, but in the 25th minute the home team already led by two goals. Jiskra took the puck at the blue line, went over the Olomouc defenders and shot under the crossbar to increase Energy’s lead to 2:0.
At the beginning of the third period, Jiskra did not score in a breakaway and a moment later, when Redlich was sent off, Káň lowered Musil’s shot from the crossbar. In 22 seconds, it was already equalized: after Bambul’s throw-in, Dujsík shot and the puck fell to Habal among the concrete.
Olomoucky Navrátil then hit the post for the second time in the match. Emotions in the audience and on the ice were evoked in the 59th minute, when the home team Beránek was sent off for four minutes, while a moment earlier, in the opinion of the Karlovy Vary substitute, he himself became a victim of illegal defending.
The Hanáci started the extension with the advantage of a three-minute power play. They didn’t use it, but a few seconds after it ended, he was left alone in front of the Karlovy Vary goal Orsava and decided the third match of the preliminary round for Olomouc.
The first match was not completed on Wednesday in Olomouc due to problems with the ice, the competition management postponed the remaining two thirds to Thursday. Karlovy Vary then started the series at home in the second match.
