Justin Bibbins and Nanterre pay the head of a lost Élan Béarnais

After letting slip a victory that stretched out his arms last Saturday against ADA Blois and despite an unfavorable schedule, Élan Béarnais, bottom of Betclic ELITE, had no other choice but to win on Nanterre public prosecutor’s office. But as often this season, it is the opponent who emerges as the big winner. Justin Bibbins knocked out his former teammates, Miralem Halilovic had a great time and Nanterre won (85-64).

The two teams back to back at halftime

Ironically, the former home of Béarnaise returned to the court at the Palais des Sports Maurice-Thorez on Tuesday evening. Injured since last December, Justin Bibbins has replayed with Nanterre against his former team. From the start of the match, Pascal Donnadieu’s men set a big pace (7-2, 2′) in the wake of a Miralem Halilovic dominating in the paint (14 points and 8 rebounds). After conceding a first burst, the Pau, too permissive in defense, took the lightning in these first minutes (15-6, 5′), angering Eric Bartecheky. Jostled, the Béarnais showed more harshness at the end of the first quarter and came back up to the Nanterriens (17-17, 8′). Under the impetus of a C.J. Williams very inspired (14 points and 3 rebounds), the Élan Béarnais returned to contact with Nanterre. After ten very tight first minutes, the two teams were unable to decide (22-22, 10′).

As often this season, Élan Béarnais has had its ups and downs during its matches. Returning to contact with the Ile-de-France, Eric Bartecheky’s proteges relaxed and Nanterre took the opportunity to regain a 5-point lead (32-27, 14′). However in difficulty in this second quarter, the Élan Béarnais knew how to make the round back to close the gap. Discreet at the start of the match, Michael Stockton (6 points and 2 assists) allowed his team to come back up to Nanterre at halftime (39-39, 20′).

Returning to the floor of Maurice-Thorez with a knife between their teeth, the Palois inflicted a 6-0 on apathetic Ile-de-France in defense (39-45, 22′). Pascal Donnadieu is forced to take a time-out to remobilize his troops. After taking the lead, Élan Béarnais was again caught by Nanterre (47-47, 25′). If Miralem Halilovic continues to shine in the racket for Nanterre, Vitalis Chiko (12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists) did the same for Pau and guided his people in this third quarter. United in defense and effective under the circle, the Béarnais finished strong and kept a 3-point lead at the start of the last ten minutes (52-55, 30′).

A 33-9 conceded by Pau, Justin Bibbins takes revenge on his ex and Nanterre smiles

The crossover continues in this match at stake in the fight for maintenance. Worn by Keith Hornsby (14 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists), Nanterre raced again in the lead and forced Eric Bartecheky to stop the game (62-59, 32′). Subsequently, the Élan Béarnais conceded a crippling 16-0. as a symbol, Justin Bibbins (14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists) back from injury comes to take revenge on his ex and definitively bury Bearn hopes. A new large defeat with a score of 85 to 64 which really does not suit Béarn. To tell the truth, the mission of the EBPLO, now only last, seems more and more difficult as the end-of-season calendar promises to be difficult. For its part, after Pascal Donnadieu sounded the alarm, Nanterre 92 continued and made a very good rise in the standings. The people of Ile-de-France now have a two-step lead over Pau. Here is a mission a little better engaged than that of the Elan…
