Judokas in Rodewisch open a new training center

The Judo club Ippon Rodewisch from Vogtland inaugurated its new training and competence center on Saturday. The multifunctional building should form the backbone of the sporting success of the Vogtland judokas, says club president Torsten Paul. “It’s a great feeling when you see how it’s received. You can see the enthusiasm the children have for it.”

The new training center has also been well received by older athletes.

A feat of strength: the club pitched in when building the hall

The new building with a large weight room, sauna, sanitary wing and club room has been in operation for two weeks. In addition to a lot of sweat and nerves, the project cost 1.2 million euros. 500,000 euros of this was subsidies, says Paul.

“We managed the rest with sponsors and through our own efforts.” The members of the association tirelessly participated in work assignments. “That’s the only way the training center has become what it is now,” says Paul, praising the effort.

youth work gets better conditions

The 400 square meter new building offers significantly better conditions, especially for the 100 or so active children and young people, says junior coach Eric Luderer. “We have a lot of members at the moment.” Therefore, the possibilities of the training center are ideal.

“Now more individual training, strength and athletic training is possible.” So far, this has been neglected because the groups are so large. “We could only offer general training, where you can’t focus enough on the athletes,” adds Luderer.
