Marisol Savoie, 13, won the gold medal in the women’s -44 kg category on Wednesday.
I was really happy to win that medal for myself, but also for my province and to prove that even if you are young, we are capable of winning a lot of prizes and accomplishing a lot of things.

Marisol says she takes her inspiration from her big sister, Mahée, who won the silver medal in the women’s -57 kg category on Thursday.
Mahée is really like my model, it’s like her that I have been since I was very young and that I am inspired

She says she is not giving up. I spoke with my coach and a bunch of things to work on, but I think next time we can have the upper hand.
The 18-year-old judoka will soon be flying to Germany with Judo Canada and hopes to be able to show what wood she has in front of her opponents.
In the meantime, she celebrates her victory, and that of her sister Marisol. I cried a lot! I was really really really proud of her, I couldn’t have been more proud of her!
