Judo: the glory of the Savoie sisters at the Canada Games

The two young judokas from the Otoshi club in Dieppe have much to be proud of and can come home with their heads held high.

Marisol Savoie, 13, won the gold medal in the women’s -44 kg category on Wednesday.

I was really happy to win that medal for myself, but also for my province and to prove that even if you are young, we are capable of winning a lot of prizes and accomplishing a lot of things.she says.

Marisol says she takes her inspiration from her big sister, Mahée, who won the silver medal in the women’s -57 kg category on Thursday.

Mahée is really like my model, it’s like her that I have been since I was very young and that I am inspiredthis Marisol.

For her first experience at the Canada Games, Marisol Savoie could not have asked for better. Win a medal in front of the eyes of his model is an unforgettable moment.

She was super proud of me and we gave each other a big hug and it was just like really a beautiful moment!she says with emotion.

The young judoka affirms that her good preparation and her concentration allowed her to beat her opponents.

Money for Mahée

Mahée Savoie does not hide it. She would have liked to win first place, but is still very proud of her performance.

She says she is not giving up. I spoke with my coach and a bunch of things to work on, but I think next time we can have the upper hand.

The 18-year-old judoka will soon be flying to Germany with Judo Canada and hopes to be able to show what wood she has in front of her opponents.

In the meantime, she celebrates her victory, and that of her sister Marisol. I cried a lot! I was really really really proud of her, I couldn’t have been more proud of her!
