Hamburg (dpa / lno) – The Hamburg judo team started the Bundesliga season with the hoped-for victory. The German runners-up achieved an 8:6 win in their opening duel on Remscheider TV on Saturday. “As expected, there was a match at eye level,” said HJT President Rainer Ganschow after the appearance of the four-time champion at what he believed to be the strongest competitor in the northern group.

He gave particular praise to Wladimir Achalkasi, who scored twice against the strong Dutchman Jesper Smink in the class up to 90 kilograms, including in the decisive 14th duel. Ganschow: “He’s the hero of the day.”
