Atlanta suffered a setback in the final stretch of the regular season. Despite a clear lead, the Georgia team lost to San Antonio 118-126.
At halftime, the Hawks were still looking good. The team with Swiss Clint Capela had gained a 24-point lead shortly after the break. But the Spurs didn’t give up and let the cushion get smaller and smaller. Almost 4 minutes before the end, the hosts made the definitive turnaround. Capela still recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds, his 29th in 55 appearances this season.
The defeat against the third-weakest team in the league is a setback for the Hawks’ sporting ambitions. Coach Quin Snyder’s team is looking to position themselves as best they can for a likely participation in the play-in tournament, where the last two playoff spots will be decided.
