“I was surprised”; Cano is impressed by Marcelo’s talent and drives Fluminense fans crazy

Fluminense continues to prepare for the Carioca final, whose first leg will take place next Saturday (1st), at 8:30 pm, against Flamengo, at Maracanã. The match should also mark the debut of Marcelo, who returned from Europe after 16 years and has been training with the rest of the squad commanded by Fernando Diniz. Germán Cano, in turn, was impressed by the left-back’s talent, driving the Tricolor fans crazy.

In an interview with GE, the striker praised Marcelo’s ability, projecting his partnership with the Fluminense star by ‘requiring’ assists for the side: “He’s a playmaker. You already see how he stops the ball, the ability and ease he has to do many things in training. I was like that, surprised. At any moment I’ll be in the area waiting for his cross (laughs)”, declared Cano, who already has 14 goals scored in 11 games this season.

Cano also made a point of valuing the arrival of players of Marcelo’s caliber to Brazilian football, explaining how the left-back can help Tricolor fight for titles in 2023: “It is important for us to take advantage of this, players of this experience. We haven’t known what it’s like to have that experience of him for a long time. I think it will be really cool to fight for everything we want this year”, concluded the Argentine striker.

If Marcelo does not enter the field in the first decision against Flamengo, he will be able to debut in the second leg of the Carioca final, which will take place on April 9, at 5 pm, also at Maracanã. The tendency is for the star player to play in front of the Tricolor fans, as in the week of the 12th, for the Copa do Brasil, or in the second round of the Libertadores, which takes place the following week. Both opponents will still be chosen through a lottery.
