John Heitinga was told afterwards that Ajax fans sang very unsavory songs about Feyenoord and Rotterdam during the away match at sc Heerenveen (2-4). The ‘bombs on Rotterdam’ could be heard several times, with which the Ajax players refer to the large-scale bombing of the port city in World War II. Heitinga said at the press conference that he had not heard the chants, but condemned them.
Ajax triumphed in the Abe Lenstra Stadium thanks to goals from Mohammed Kudus, Edson Álvarez, Steven Bergwijn and Kenneth Taylor. However, the victory was overshadowed by chants from the trade. The Amsterdam fans present sang about ‘bombs on Rotterdam’ in the run-up to next Sunday’s Classic. At the press conference, Heitinga was told by Mike Verweij van The Telegraph asked about those songs. “I missed it, but it is of course not good if that is the case. If you say it happened, then I believe you. We are happy with the victory, but of course you would rather not hear these kinds of chants.”

Heitinga was very pleased with Steven Bergwijn, who scored the 0-3 after a nice attack. The wing attacker flipped the ball over two defenders after a nice combination with Dusan Tadic and hit through the legs of Xavier Mous. That moment led to happiness in Heitinga. “There’s been a lot to do for him and everyone likes his form, but I always say it will work out if you do the things you need to do,” said the coach at ESPN. “He did.”
Ajax’s coach expects that there is much more in store for Bergwijn. “Steven has exceptional qualities and we will have a lot of fun with that this season. We all awarded him that goal that he scored and I actually thought it was a shame about the second one, which hit the post. That was also a really great action. That action for the 0-3? I just saw it again. He comes up with it and then you just have to execute it. There are few players who can do that at this pace. ” The reigning national champion is in any case on a level with Feyenoord for a while. The team from Rotterdam will come into action on Sunday evening.
