CANCÚN, Q. ROO.- The Quintana Roo badminton delegation got four passes for the National stage of the CONADE 2023 Games. The athletes competed in the selective held in Aguascalientes, where they won the U-17 doubles, mixed doubles and singles events.

In the Under-17 singles category, Isabel Meling advanced to the national phase after beating Marely Bueno from Tamaulipas and Zofía Espinoza from Baja California, who withdrew from the tournament due to injury. Meling also achieved the pass in the women’s doubles, together with María Narváez, by beating the hosts, Karla del Toro and Camila Jauregui.

Also in women’s singles, Natalia Martín advanced by beating competitors from Tamaulipas and Aguascalientes. Martín herself also competed with Patricio Meling in the U-17 mixed doubles event, where they were among the 12 best pairs nationwide.

The national badminton phase in the CONADE Games will take place in Morelos, with dates to be defined.

In the 2022 edition, Quintana Roo could not get medals in this discipline. The Commission for Youth and Sports promised to “work together so that they arrive as well prepared; We are confident that they will do a great job”, in the next round of competitions.
