Franco Armani is a guarantee of many things: experience, security, wisdom, leadership. It is no coincidence that he has managed to stay in the River goal for so many years, at a level of exposure and demand that never goes down and with the constant criticism that being a goalkeeper entails. He will have had weaker games than others, but the Octopus is already a banner in the Greatest and is on his way to being an idol with each of his saves at key moments.

Just two dates ago, in the match against Tigre and with his three tremendous saves in the second half, the native of Casilda became the third goalkeeper with the most undefeated fences in the history of the Greatest: he equaled the 96 of Ángel David Comizzo and now he is going for the mark of 158 held by Ubaldo Matildo Fillol. Far on the horizon, at the top of the list, are the 183 by Amadeo Carrizo.

But that’s not all, but the Octopus is already part of a prestigious ranking with different goalkeepers from around the world, most of them who play in the best leagues in Europe. Counting all his titles in River and adding those he achieved in Atlético Nacional de Colombia, where he is an idol, and the Argentine National Team, Armani claims to be the 10th active goalkeeper with the most titles to his credit.

A total of 23 conquests of all kinds, leaving only one behind legends like Peter Schmeichel, Victor Valdés and Jens Lehmann. In Nuñez, the Octopus has in its windows the Argentine Super Cup 2017, Copa Libertadores 2018, Argentine Cup and Argentine Super Cup 2019, South American Recopa 2019, Professional League 2021 and Champions Trophy 2021.
