England goalkeeper Ben Foster, formerManchester United and who played in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, abandoned his retirement announced last year and hit it off with Wrexham, a team owned by Hollywood star Ryan Reynolds.
The detail is that the 39-year-old Foster returns to the Wales club he defended almost 20 years ago (he played on loan in the 2004/05 season).
Bought by Reynolds in 2021 (in partnership with also actor Rob McElhenney) Wrexham is in the fifth division of the English Championship, outside the Football League (Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2).
But the third oldest club in the world, founded in 1864, is currently in first place and should achieve promotion to the English fourth division (League 2, in the original name).
