Fluminense agreed to hire midfielder Thiago Santos. The player, who can also play as a defender, was this Friday (31/03) at the Carlos Castilho Training Center and signed permanently with the club until the end of 2024. He will wear the number 29 in Tricolor.
With spells at Grêmio, Palmeiras and América-MG, Thiago Santos arrives at Fluminense with the endorsement of coach Fernando Diniz, who assesses him as a versatile, supportive, imposing player who stands out for his personality. The new tricolor reinforcement has a victorious career, with two Brazilian titles for the São Paulo team in his curriculum (in 2016 and 2018) and experience in Libertadores.
“I am very happy to be here. When I received the call from Diniz and Fred asking about the possibility of me coming here, I immediately said I wanted to. Fluminense is a giant of Brazilian football, so I’m very happy to be able to be with the team. I’m sure it will be a year of many achievements, as it has been. I know I can collaborate a lot with the team and help these fans celebrate a lot this year”, said the player.
Thiago Santos is the 11th reinforcement for 2023 announced by Tricolor, which had already closed with forwards Keno and Lelê, full-backs Marcelo, Guga and Jorge, midfielders Lima and Gabriel Pirani, defender Vitor Mendes and goalkeeper Vitor Eudes. The club also renewed with important players for the team, such as striker Germán Cano, midfielders Paulo Henrique Ganso, Jhon Arias and Michel Araújo, midfielders André and Martinelli, right-back Samuel Xavier and defenders Manoel and David Braz, in addition to to formalize the permanence of coach Fernando Diniz.
