Five-year suspended sentence for sexual assaults committed on several minors

The defendant’s 8-year-old daughter and son, as well as four other minor children, have been identified. They are his daughter-in-law, his former neighbor and the sons of two friends. Some victims reported rape, others indecent assault or incitement to debauchery.

During the hearing, the defendant admitted having shown an “inadequate documentary” to his son and having masturbated in his presence but thinking that the child was sleeping. For another victim, assaulted from 12 to 16 years old, the defendant believes that the “relationships” were “consented”. However, the penal code presumes a lack of consent under the age of 16 (for facts prior to the entry into force of the new penal code, last June). “Monsieur does not understand the prohibitions”, said his lawyer.

The 50-year-old denied the other facts with which he was accused.

An expert report recommended prohibiting him from contact with minors and long-term follow-up. The probationary suspension granted by the court is for a period of five years.
