“To be the best, you have to beat the best”: In Indian Wells there is a dream final between Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev.
The top seeded Carlos Alcaraz (ATP 2) and Daniil Medvedev (ATP 6) are in the final of the ATP 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. The Spaniard won his semi-final against Jannik Sinner (ITA/ATP 11) 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 3 and reached his 3rd final of the year. With a final victory, the 19-year-old would return to the top of the ATP ranking

Daniil Medvedev had previously bought the final ticket. The Russian defeated the American Francis Tiafoe (ATP 16) 7: 5, 7: 6 (7: 4) in the semifinals and celebrated his 19th consecutive victory on the tour. Most recently he had won the tournaments in Rotterdam, Doha and Dubai. Medvedev won the only duel with Alcaraz in Wimbledon in 2021.
“I’m an ambitious guy. I want to play against the best in the world. To be the best you have to beat the best. And Daniil is the best at the moment,” Alcaraz acknowledged his opponent. This, in turn, seems to have come to terms with the hard courts in the Californian desert, which he believes are far too slow.
