FC Bayern separates from Julian Nagelsmann, but is not in charge of communicating about the process. A player says the message would take him by surprise. Wasn’t the coach himself informed in good time?
DFC Bayern abruptly ended the planned long-term project Julian Nagelsmann. The German soccer record champion separates from his 35-year-old coach with immediate effect. Several media reported on this on Thursday evening. The Bavarians themselves were taken by surprise by the reports, until early Friday morning they had not made their decision official.
And apparently they had not yet informed Nagelsmann, who has to go after 21 months and a championship title. This was stated by the trainer, who was on a ski tour on Thursday, to the “kicker”. When asked if he had heard anything from the club about this, he said on Thursday evening: “No, not yet!” According to information from “Bild”, the coach was very well informed.
At least the players, most of whom are traveling with their national teams, were apparently surprised. “I did not know that. I’m a bit surprised,” said João Cancelo. The Portuguese was interviewed on Sport TV following the 4-0 win in the European Championship qualifier against Liechtenstein.
“That took me by surprise”
“I would like to thank coach Nagelsmann, because it was he who wanted me at Bayern, as did the club management,” explained the full-back on loan from Manchester City: “It took me by surprise. I wish him all the luck in the world. When I arrive, I’ll try to fit into the new coach’s concept as much as possible.”
When Cancelo is back in Munich, a new coach should actually be waiting for him there. Apparently Bayern agree with Thomas Tuchel. The only thing missing is the signature, which should be done on Friday or Saturday. According to “Bild”, the 49-year-old former BVB coach should train Bayern for the first time on Monday and prepare for the classic against Borussia Dortmund after the international break.
