Barcelona

Ansu Fati was predicted to be the successor to Lionel Messi. But now his performance continues to decline and Barcelona is said to be ready to let Fati go.

Fati started to emerge when he made his debut with the Barcelona first team at the age of 16 in August 2019. He slowly started to show off by making goals and assists for Barcelona.

Great hopes accompany Fati along with the opportunity to play a lot with the Blaugrana. But just as his career was taking off, a serious knee injury hit Fati in November 2020, forcing him out for nine months.

Barcelona still has high hopes for Fati even though the young man born in Bissau almost missed a season. It was proven in the following season in 2021/2022, Fati inherited the number 10 belonging to Lionel Messi who decided to move to Paris Saint-Germain.

But after that, Fati’s performance actually declined this season. He has only scored three goals in 24 appearances in LaLiga.

Barcelona are now reportedly starting to consider letting Fati go. Spanish media, Diario Sport, said that the Blaugrana were starting to be open to receiving offers from other clubs for the 20-year wing.

Selling Fati is one way for Barcelona to reduce their salary bill. However, Barcelona’s efforts to release Fati seem to be colliding with the player’s price.

Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had said that several Premier League clubs were interested in his client. These clubs find it difficult to comply with Fati’s price tag.

Fati who has a release clause worth 1 billion euros listed in his contract. He was previously valued at between 70 million euros and 100 million euros by Barcelona.

This price is considered unrealistic given Fati’s current performance. Barcelona are reportedly ready to lower Fati’s transfer fee to 40 million euros.
