Spain has made an excellent start to its qualifying campaign for the 2024 European Championship. The Spaniards defeated Norway, which Erling Haaland missed due to an injury, 3-0. Croatia, on the other hand, seemed on their way to victory against Wales, but a goal from Broadhead killed Modric and co.
Spain has not taken the measure of Norway without a fight. The Scandinavians defended themselves valiantly, but finally bit the sand 3-0. Dani Olmo already scored the first goal in the opening fifteen minutes in the Estadio La Rosaleda in Malaga with a subtle deviation on the instructions of Alejandro Baldé. Joselu finally graced his debut for La Roja – at the age of 32 – with two goals in as many minutes.
In the same group, Scotland beat Cyprus 3-0 earlier in the day. The Spaniards will play against Scotland next Tuesday. Norway plays with Georgia.
Croatia, in turn, lost against Wales at the last minute: 1-1. Andrej Kramaric made the nets vibrate just before half an hour, but Nathan Broadhead equalized in stoppage time. A sour point division for the Croats. Still in group D, Turkey converted a 1-0 deficit against Armenia into a 1-2 win.
In group I, Switzerland beat Belarus to a dry 0-5 defeat and Israel and Kosovo shared the spoils 1-1. Romania finally had no child for Andorra and pocketed a 0-2 victory.
