DEL playoffs: Ingolstadt reaches semi-finals, Mannheim wins spectacularly

In the German Ice Hockey League, ERC Ingolstadt was the first team to reach the playoff semifinals. Mannheim won in a dramatic game against Cologne.

On Friday evening (March 24th, 2023), ERC Ingolstadt secured their fourth win in the series with a furious 7:6 after extra time against Düsseldorfer EG – and thus made it into the semi-finals.

At the beginning of the third period, the ERC was still 3:6 behind. After goals from Mirko Höfflin (50′), Wayne Simpson (58′) and Ty Ronning (60′), it went into overtime, where Stefan Matteau (63′) struck.

Mannheim with last minute goals

With an energy performance, the Adler Mannheim turned a 0:3 against the Kölner Haie into a 4:3 (0:0, 1:3, 3:0) and lead in the best-of-seven series, in which to progress four wins are necessary, now with 3:2 after successes.

The Mannheim team only equalized 3:3 through David Wolf 31 seconds before the end of the game. After a blunder by KEC goalkeeper Mirko Pantkowski, it was Nico Krämmer who scored a few seconds later to make it 4:3 for the Adler and caused the arena to explode.

Munich with a strong performance against Bremerhaven

After two defeats, EHC Munich also achieved their third win in a row with a 4-0 (1-0, 3-0, 0-0) against the Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven. Munich and Mannheim can now make the semifinals perfect on Sunday (03/26/2023). This also applies to the Straubing Tigers, who won 5-0 (0-0, 3-0, 2-0) against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg.
