Dehydration in judo competitors

Summary

Dehydration is a very serious and widespread issue when we talk about sports such as judo. In judo most of the competitors carry out dehydration techniques to make weight.

In this work we are going to observe if the competitors in judo tend to dehydrate to give the weight and to see how it affects their performance.

The work has been structured in three blocks: the first part explains what judo is, the second part the importance and function of water in the body, the third part dehydration and rehydration in the body.

For this I have done a study in which I have taken a sample of 10 male subjects between 19 and 25 years old and who compete nationally and internationally to see what percentage of weight they lost training and what percentage of weight they lost for the competition. .

With all this we have seen that dehydration is very popular within judo, being harmful to the health of athletes. Perhaps all this is the reason why athletes are unaware about the adverse effects of this practice.

At the end of the study I have seen that the subjects dehydrated training between 1% and 1.5% of their body weight. And that they all lose between 4% and 6.5% of their body weight for the competition.
