If there is a position that Barça will have to strengthen, yes or yes, it is the right-back. The team has run out of specialists after Bellerin’s departure and the club is clear that the time has come to solve this problem once and for all. The player that Xavi and the sports area like the most is Juan Foyth, but his clause of 60 million euros makes the operation very complicated. The sports area is managing other more affordable options to cover your back.

Foyth was already the bet of Xavi and the sports management of the club last summer. The Argentine likes a lot because he competes well and is very intense in the game. They see him as a very appetizing piece to play in Europe, but Barça knows that they will not have any kind of facility from a Villarreal that they might need to sell in the summer market. The winger would like to sign, but he is very grateful to the yellow club for the sporting opportunity he gave him and it is unlikely that he will exert any kind of pressure.

With this panorama, Barça had already moved in recent weeks to open a negotiation for Benjamin Pavard, a Bayern winger. The French international had expressed his intention to leave Germany due to his conflicts with his coach, but everything has been redirected and now he would be very close to renewing. At Barça they consider this case practically lost unless the talks are broken due to its continuity. In addition, Bayern was planning to ask for around 30 million euros for a player who had one year left on his contract and negotiations with the Germans are always complicated.

There are other candidates that could be more affordable. Thomas Meunier, from Dortmund, is a footballer who likes the sports area. They already tried to sign him a year and a half ago but his club did not let him leave. This summer he already knows that he will be able to leave and is waiting for the Blaugrana club to make a decision. It would be a minimal transfer and at Barça they are convinced that he could give two good years of performance, a time that would serve to look for alternatives.

The last option being considered is that of Joao Cancelo. The Portuguese is not having a good time on loan to Bayern Munich and it is very unlikely that the Germans will exercise the multimillion-dollar purchase option. Cancelo does not want to return to City, so it is likely that a loan can be given. And at Barça they are very clear that Cancelo in top form is the winger who would best adapt to the Blaugrana game. Who would be very complicated is Diogo Dalot (Manchester United) for whom his club has exercised the unilateral renewal option until 2024 and they are negotiating an extension. Only if there was no agreement would it be on the market.
