Davidovich and his long journey through the desert

We all know how difficult it is for a tennis player to sneak into the quarterfinals of Indian Wells. But what Alejandro Davidovich did not know is how complicated his journey from the Californian desert to the next Master 1000 in Miami can be. The Spaniard had to experience a real journey through the desert to be able to reach his destination before making his debut against Brandon Nakashima this Friday. This has been detailed to the ATP.

And it is that Davidovich, together with the rest of his team, had to remain on the ground for 8 hours inside the plane that was to take them to Miami. “The day after losing to Medvedev, we had a flight at 11 in the morning to Dallas and then another from Dallas to Miami. And in the middle of the road they tell us that we have to detour to Austin because there was a tornado in Dallas. And you had to wait for him to leave to continue the journey. But in the end we were on the plane for about eight and a half hours doing nothing.Davidovich explained.

Davidovich spent more than a day traveling to Miami

And what a journey, because they did not arrive at the hotel of their destination until 11 in the morning of the following day. But the only reason for the delay was not that tornado, but because everything you can imagine that doesn’t work, didn’t work. Air traffic, lack of pilots, gasoline: a disaster. In fact, his coach, Jorge Aguirreshowed his despair at the situation: “We all went crazy! The pilot every once in a while would say: ‘We’ll be leaving shortly.’ And so for almost nine hours. Also, it was a small plane. Go figure”.

However, Davidovich took it more calmly and, together with his girlfriend, he imagined being in a better place. All thanks to his team, who never let him despair. “We were both stinking, saying that everything seemed to be going long. So we take it as if we were at home watching things on the IPad. Everyone around me, my team, my girlfriend, my family… everyone is there to put my feet on the groundDavidovich confessed.

These situations help him to do better on the track

We know that you have to help you manage your emotions in everyday life so that on the court you are better trained when it comes to managing things more calmly, and not with anger or a lot of emotion. The goal is for them to see situations a bit as challenges and to be able to take them on with a better perspective”, Aguirre admitted to what happened. But the problems did not end there. Arriving in Miami after two flights, they were told their bags would arrive three days later. “In the end we decided to rest those days in Miami, so there was no problem on that side either.”said the 23-year-old.

In this way, Davidovich demonstrated that situations of this type do not have to torment him more than necessary. Both he and his team work every day to handle any difficulties in a calm and coherent manner. Perhaps, that is why he presumably occupies the position 25 del ranking ATP. Now, once this long journey is left behind (from which she has a good anecdote to tell) her eyes are fixed on her match against Nakashima at the Miami Open. A real challenge too.
