Cologne has Heracles top scorer Hansson on the list

It’s no secret that 1. FC Köln lacks a goal threat. When planning for the new season, the club has now kept an eye on Emil Hansson. The former Sweden U-21 international, who tried his hand at Hannover 96 four years ago, is Heracles Almelo’s top scorer.

In the search for inexpensive reinforcements for the coming season, Emil Hansson from the Dutch second division team Heracles Almelo has become the focus of Cologne’s attention. The right-footed player, who is usually used as a left winger, is playing by far his best season as a professional with the second-placed team and has therefore been included on the list of possible arrivals at several clubs.

In addition to 1. FC Köln, Eintracht Frankfurt, Udinese Calcio, Olympique Lyon and his former club Feyenoord Rotterdam, to which Hansson switched from SK Brann Bergen as a 17-year-old, should also deal with the fast and tricky winger. A decisive argument for this: The 24-year-old is the absolute top scorer in the team with 32 goals (15 goals/17 assists).

Only contractually bound until 2024

Hansson is not entirely unknown in Germany. In the summer of 2019, the then 21-year-old switched from Feyenoord Rotterdam to Hannover 96, but did not make the breakthrough with the Reds. He only made 14 second division appearances (one goal) in the 2019/20 season before trying his luck in the Netherlands with smaller clubs like RKC Waalwijk and Fortuna Sittard.

The former Sweden U-21 international, who scored four goals in ten games for his home country, found that to the full at Heracles Almelo. Hansson is only contractually bound to the club managed by ex-HSV professional Nico-Jan Hoogma until 2024. So the attacker would rather not cost such a high fee, even if Heracles has a unilateral option to extend the contract for an additional year.
