Carrefour promotes its commitment to second-hand clothing |

Carrefour has opened two new spaces in Spain for the sale of second-hand clothing in the hypermarkets of Móstoles (Madrid) and Tarrasa (Barcelona).

Specifically, since 2021 the brand has two corners in Madrid and Barcelona and since the opening of those first two points of sale, it has already sold more than 7,500 garments, promoting the circular economy.

This initiative is part of the distribution chain’s commitment to the environment in its stores. In 2019, the group Carrefour and other companies in the sector signed The Fashion Pact, an agreement and commitment to reduce the footprint left by the fashion industry and since then it has developed various initiatives such as the increase in sustainable products, especially to curb the impact of clothing manufacturing.

In this way, among the garments most in demand by consumers are dresses, jackets and jackets, and shirts and blouses for boys and girls.

The management of these second-hand clothing points is carried out with Patatam, a company specialized in second-hand clothing. These spaces offer baby, children’s, women’s and men’s clothing and all of them have been previously reviewed to ensure that they meet all hygiene and safety requirements.

Carrefour is committed to making more sustainable fashion available to its customers with its TEX brand, offering environmentally friendly products throughout their entire life cycle and guaranteeing the sustainability of the materials used, transparency and reduced environmental impact. of its supply chain and its packaging.

In addition, it works to reduce the use of plastics in TEX ‘packaging’, it has decreased the number of labels and has reduced the formats and weights of the packaging, 100% of the hangers have been made with recycled material since 2019 and for 10 years all the cartons of the ‘packaging’ of the textile products are certified by FSC, among other initiatives.
