Carolina Marín from Huelva makes her debut this Wednesday, March 15, at the Birmingham Open, a tournament that she already won in 2015. And she does so to face off against the Scottish Kirsty Gilmour, whom she has faced six times and won five.

“I feel very well, we have focused these five weeks on the All England and on preparing for the tournaments in Switzerland and Madrid. The important thing was to recover from the injury I had in the last tournament in Indonesia. I had discomfort in the hamstring and loads of I have endured the training well, so I’m quite happy. I’m enjoying badminton again without pain,” she commented in an interview with Diario Marca in relation to her return to the courts.

Marín also argued that her goal this week is to “compete at the highest level, continue to grow as a player and use things that I have trained. I always want to win, but it is true that the rivals are very strong and the draw is not easy I’m going to go game by game. It’s a very prestigious tournament and it’s nice to be able to compete again”.

Remember that Carolina Marín has not yet won any tournament so far this season.
