CAN 2023 qualifiers – Senegal vs Mozambique: The probable composition of the Lions!

The Lions are preparing to play the third day of qualifying for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Mozambique. A meeting for which coach Aliou Cissé will have to compose his team without the usual starters, but with a lot of quality at his disposal.

When publishing his list of 24 players, Aliou Cissé had to worry about major absences, such as Edouard Mendy, Abdou Diallo or Ismaïla Sarr. But without these executives, the national coach still has crazy potential in his workforce. Enough to line up against Mozambique a more than competitive eleven. A formation which will be composed by capés such as Koulibaly, Gana Gueye, Sadio Mané or even Krépin Diatta.

In the cages, with the lack of size of Mendy, his usual replacement, Alfred Gomis takes the reins. The Côme goalkeeper is ahead of Seny Dieng in the hierarchy of goalkeepers so far and should benefit from the confidence of Tony Silva, to whom Cissé has entrusted the choice for this first round to Diamniadio. In defense, we will have an unprecedented line with Kalidou Koulibaly in duet with Abdoulaye Seck in the central axis. Youssouf Sabaly (right) and Abdallah Ndour (left) will occupy the sides.

In the midfield, we will have the experienced duo Idrissa Gana Gueye-Nampalys Mendy in low point. They will be supported for the offensive component by Iliman Ndiaye in the 4-2-3-1 system that has become classic. In attack, Boulaye will return to his post at the fore, supplemented by Sadio Mané on the left winger and Krépin Diatta on the right wing. An eleven built on the certainties of Cissé but which could still have some surprises, especially in defense with the tenure of Niakhate or in the midfield with Pathé Ciss in place of Nampalys.

Probable composition of the Lions against Mozambique

Alfred Gomis – Koulibaly – Abdoulaye Seck – Sabaly – Abdallah Ndour – Nampalys – Ghana Gueye – Iliman Ndiaye – Sadio Mane – Krepin Diatta – Boulaye Dia
