Gianluigi Buffon, the legendary goalkeeper of PSG spent a season in Paris, spoke about his passage with frank words.
Gianluigi Buffon did not mince words when discussing his time at PSG during the 2018-2019 season, at the microphone of Christian Vieri on his show Bobo TV. The former Italian international goalkeeper admits that the decision of the management to place him as Areola’s understudy for his second season has not passed at all, Buffon having preferred to pack his bags the following summer.
“My experience in Paris was the best of my life. I must say that my departure was probably the biggest mistake of my career. For what? They said to me ‘Gigi, we are very happy, but you will not start as a starter in the Champions League. Areola will play’. I thought that wasn’t fair. It was a matter of respect. However, Buffon does not regret his stay in Paris. Because obviously, life in Paris was a joy for him and his family to the point of even nourishing some regrets for having had to leave so quickly.
“The greatest experience of my life was PSG. I felt at the center of the world after two months, I spoke French, I talked to people in the street. When I had a day off, I would take an Uber and go alone to a museum. Beyond my status as a professional player at the highest level, I felt like a satisfied man, it was the best experience. Even today, my children ask me why we left Paris. »
