Buccaneers sign Baker Mayfield for one season

It was no longer going to Cleveland. It didn’t work in Carolina. It was a little better in Los Angeles. It’s the turn of the Buccaneers to try the Baker Mayfield experience.

ESPN announces that the former first draft pick has signed up for a season with Tampa. He will receive a maximum salary of $8.5 million.

Rumors have linked Mayfield to the Buccaneers for several days. His arrival responds to a certain logic. The idea seems to be to leave the hand to him, while waiting to possibly launch Kyle Trask, selected in the second round in 2021, in the deep end.

Last season, Mayfield therefore traveled. 7 games with the Panthers for 6 touchdowns and as many interceptions. Then 5 games for the Rams, with 4 touchdowns and 2 balls for the defense.

Mayfield is still only 27 years old. So there is always hope. His task will not be made easier by the departures of Shaq Mason and Donovan Smith in recent days on the Florida offensive line.
