This Saturday evening, Élan Béarnais lost after extra time against ADA Blois (80-83). In front of the whole match, Pau can blame himself and switch to the wrong side.

After the victories of the ESSM Le Portel and the Chorale de Roanne on Friday evening, the 25th day of Betclic ELITE continued this Saturday. In search of victories to hope to remain in the elite at the end of the season, Élan Béarnais wanted to win at home against Blois. Missed for Eric Bartecheky’s men who lost to Blois after extra time (80-83).

Pushed by their public, the Palois started with a bang (9-3, 3′), forcing Mickaël Hay to stop the game. Under the impetus of captain Giovan Oniangue (16 points), Élan Béarnais took this match by the good end. Thanks to a strong defense and success behind the arc, Eric Bartecheky’s men finished strong this first quarter (27-20, 10 ‘). Jostled by more aggressive Bloisois, the Béarnais completely lost the thread in this second quarter. Guided by an excellent Robert Johnson (26 points and 6 rebounds), ADA Blois returned to the game. After counting 13 lengths in advance, Elan Béarnais saw Blois come back to 3 small points before half-time (43-40, 20′).

Two decisive shots for Thomas Cornely!

Upon returning from the locker room, Eric Bartecheky’s men regained their defensive aggressiveness and their address under the circle, like a dominating Vitalis Chikoko in the paint (21 points and 7 rebounds). Thanks to an 8-0, Élan Béarnais took their distance at the start of the last ten minutes before a new Blois reaction initiated by Johnson (55-51, 30′). At the breaking point in a very undecided last quarter, Michael Stockton stuffed his Zimbabwean interior with balloons. Imperial, Vitalis Chikoko allowed his team to retain the advantage before Thomas Cornely snatched overtime with a 3-point shot at the buzzer (71-71).

Led throughout the match, Mickaël Hay’s team regained the advantage before Pau reacted again. 5 minutes of madness where Éric Bartecheky’s men returned to equality before being crucified by Thomas Cornely, still three points away. Incredibly clutch, the leader of the ADA offered a rare performance: two decisive shots in the same match! And in its wake, Blois offers an extremely important success in the fight to maintain Betclic ÉLITE while the Élan Béarnais misses the mark and is now in last place.
