Big blow for FC Barcelona

This Sunday, FC Barcelona faces Real Madrid in La Liga for a match that could definitively end the fight for the title or completely revive La Liga. But for this shock oh so important, Barça will have to do without Pedri, according to the Spanish newspaper AS.

Pedri, who was injured in last month’s Europa League game against Manchester United, had recently returned to collective training and was confirmed to take part in Sunday night’s Clasico between Barca and Real Madrid. However, it has been reported that the Spanish midfielder won’t be able to play after all.

According to the latest information from AS, Pedri, who has been out since mid-February with a thigh injury, is still not recovered. He should therefore not play against Real Madrid and will not be able to join the Spanish national team for which he had been called up by the new coach Luis de la Fuente. Catalan daily Mundo Deportivo added that Pedri felt unpleasant sensations during the day’s training and that Barca decided not to take any risks by playing him.

Barca, currently leaders of La Liga with 65 points, have a nine-point lead over Real Madrid ahead of Sunday night’s Clasico.
