Following Paris Saint-Germain’s new fiasco on Wednesday in the Champions League round of 16 against Bayern Munich (0-1, 0-2), Canal+ consultant Habib Beye had harsh words this Sunday. For the former Senegalese international, this rout was predictable due to the lack of real power granted to coach Christophe Galtier, like the descent of sports adviser Luis Campos to the edge of the field last month against Lille in championship (4-3).
“Today you look at all the big clubs, Jürgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola… They have the power. There are people who are there but you don’t see the sporting director going down. That’s why it’s is an announced failure, when you see what is happening with Campos. Because these are behaviors that are not made to strengthen a coach who must make strong choices in a competition that demands an ultimate requirement”, lamented the native of Suresne.
“When you are going to have a coach who has full powers over sporting logic, over the workforce and over what he does and chooses in this workforce… Me, when I see him (Galtier, editor’s note) in his press conference , there are two questions: either I tell myself, he is not telling the truth, or I tell myself, he is manipulated so as not to offend his players who are today untouchable”, denounced Beye in reference to criticism of Galtier on El Chadaille Bitshiabu rather than on Marco Verratti…
