Bayern dismisses Nagelsmann and Tuchel will be his replacement

Julian Nagelsmann will be dismissed as coach of the first team of the Bayern Munich and his replacement will be Thomas Tuchel, reports the German press.

According to the newspaper ‘Bild’, Tuchel will lead Bayern from next Monday and will will sit on the bench on April 1 already against a team he coached from 2015 to 2017, Borussia Dortmund.

Nagelsmann, 35, came to the Bayern bench in 2021 from RB Leipzig, to which the Bavarian club paid 25 million euros. He signed a contract for five seasons from July 1 of that year to replace Hansi Flick in the position.

With him in front Bayern have won the last two editions of the German Super Cup (2021 and 2022) and the 2021/2022 Bundesliga.

Bayern is second in the current Bundesliga, just one point behind the leader, Borussia Dortmund. Last Sunday the Munich team lost 2-1 at Bayer Leverkusen.

After that loss in Leverkusen, Hasan Salihamidžić, a member of the board of directors responsible for the sports area, said: “That’s not how Bayern is. So little push, mentality… I’ve rarely seen that.”

In the Champions League, Bayern will meet in the quarterfinals with Manchester City. He is also still alive in the German Cup, in whose quarterfinals he will face Freiburg.

Thomas Tuchel, 49, has coached Augsburg II, Mainz and Dormund in Germany. From 2018 to 2020 he was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, and in the 2021-2022 campaign he led English Chelsea.
