1. FC Union Berlin continues to set the course for the future and thus also for the new season. Lennart Grill, who was loaned out by league rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen at the start of the season, will stay with 1. FC Union Berlin. According to kicker information, the Irons have committed the 24-year-old goalkeeper.

A confirmation from the two clubs is still pending. Already during the winter break it became apparent that Grill’s parent club Leverkusen probably no longer planned with him. Because Bayer has committed a new number two with Patrick Pentz. Lukas Hradecky is set as goalkeeper in the current round. In addition, Andrey Lunev’s expiring contract, who has been out since January with disc problems, will not be extended. In addition, there is another keeper in the squad with Niklas Lomb.

At Union, Grill is likely to continue to act as Frederik Rönnow’s deputy in the 2023/24 season. Because the Dane is currently unavoidable, especially in the past few weeks he has underpinned his position as the number one keeper with some decent performances. But at least: Grill has made six appearances in all competitions, conceding eleven goals.

Of course, from the summer it is also an option for the Köpenickers to loan the former U-21 national keeper in the new season so that Grill can collect more playing time.
