Weißenfels (dpa) – The basketball players from Syntainics MBC could not end their black series against Alba Berlin. The Weißenfels team lost their home game against the German champions on Tuesday with 77:87 (37:36) and left the floor for the 21st time in a row as a loser against the Albatrosses. The last success was the Central Germans 13 years ago (71:69) against the team from the capital. Maodo Lo (25), Yanni Wetzel (17) and Jonas Mattiseck (10) played the biggest part in the success of the Berliners. Stephon Jelks, Charles Callison (15 each), Kostja Mushidi and Martin Breunig (13 each) scored the most points for the MBC.
The hosts were able to keep things completely open against the second in the table in the first two quarters. The MBC converted a 13:17 deficit (9th) into a 22:17 lead (11th). The lead changed eight times before the break. After the change of sides, the favorites showed their individual class and punished the mistakes made by Weißenfels. With a 15:2 run from 38:40 (21st) to 53:42 (24th), the Berliners ensured a preliminary decision in this game. The Central Germans fought their way up to 57:59 by the 30th minute, but then the guests increased the tempo again and rushed to 74:59 (34th minute).
